West Muirlands, which is tucked into the western slopes of Mt. Soledad, lies between the La Jolla Country Club and the exclusive Muirlands neighborhood. This small enclave of fewer than 200 homes is more affordable than most other La Jolla communities. Also called Muirlands West, the area is fully residential.
West Muirlands was developed during the 1970s and 1980s with the goal of providing an ideal community for families. Most of the homes are single story, and many have large backyards with pools.
The wide streets are lined with mature trees and often end in cul-de-sacs that are perfect places for neighborhood gatherings. Although some of the best public schools are within walking or biking distance, three private schools are also nearby.
In addition to the La Jolla Country Club with its world famous golf course, the residents of West Muirlands live close to many other outdoor attractions. Of course there is the ocean and the especially family friendly WindanSea Beach, La Jolla Cove, and Children’s Pool. The stunning Soledad Natural Park offers lovely grass fields and hiking trails through native chaparral.
The 360-degree view from the peak of Mt. Soledad is breathtaking.
The continuing popularity of this friendly community is evidenced by the fact that many of its homes have been upgraded and remodeled. With its comfortable, spacious residences on large lots and its proximity to excellent schools and exciting recreational opportunities, West Muirlands is the ultimate family neighborhood.
