Located on the southern slope of Mount Soledad, La Jolla Alta lies above and to the east of La Jolla Mesa. Although this enclave contains some custom homes, it comprises mainly luxury planned residential developments (PUDs), all constructed to take advantage of spectacular views of the Pacific Ocean, Mission Bay, San Diego, and chaparral-filled canyons. Built for the most part during the 1980s, this sunny, tranquilneighborhood is fully residential. The area provides easy access to the boutiques and restaurants of The Village and to the more laid-back lifestyle of Pacific Beach.
