Bird Rock

Lying at the southern end of La Jolla, Bird Rock is a quaint, out-of-the-way area that can easily be overlooked, even by San Diegans.  A family-oriented enclave, it has some of La Jolla’s most affordable coastal homes.  The Bird Rock shopping district, which has recently been renovated, is a popular place for locals to congregate, shop, and dine.  Four roundabouts on La Jolla Boulevard slow traffic and increase the area’s walkability.

Bird Rock has three family-friendly parks that are ideal for picnicking, exercising the dog, or simply relaxing in the Southern California sun. Some of the state’s best surfing spots can be found just two blocks off the Boulevard, and during low tide more than an acre of rocky tide pools becomes available for exploring.

The area also boasts a number of beautiful walking paths that afford both gorgeous views of costal bluffs and glimpses of the immense white rock lying just off the shoreline that is home to numerous birds and that gives the area its name.

Bird Rock is the place for people seeking an active outdoor lifestyle a bit off the beaten path.
